According to the count, girls were called on 10 times, while boys were called on 17 times. Those numbers are disproportionate and not at all encouraging.
If it’s any comfort, though, other Twitter users voiced their support. “I look forward to voting for her some day,” one follower gushed. “Awww so cute she is already politically aware. You are raising a good kid there. She is a badass,” another said. “Yes next CEO or Soon to a president candidate. I love it! Encourage that, it’s beautiful! Thank you for sharing;)” a third wrote.
Others were curious about the makeup of the class, and whether or not that would affect the collected data. But just going off of what we know, there appears to be a stark gender bias at play. “Not a whole lot has changed. super glad she notices though,” someone noted.
One user encouraged the student to keep up the hard work because good things could come out of it. “Good for her. I didn’t even realize this happened until I was in my early 20s and I started doing a tally at work. I ended up pissed and the HUGE disparity, and subsequently started raising my hand and speaking up much more often. I got promoted. Keep it up 9-year old!”
“Omg teach her how to put the data in excel and make a graph. Would looooove to see the teacher receive that data,” another suggested.
