Imagine how the Maryland and Virginia baseball teams felt Tuesday night.
NCAA Baseball Tournament 2015: Complete TV schedule
The former ACC rivals both played NCAA regionals in Southern California over the weekend and decided to share a charter flight back to Washington to save on travel costs. Better yet, both teams advanced out of those regionals despite playing far from home, so there was plenty to celebrate.
One problem: The two teams will face each other this weekend in a super regional, with a College World Series berth on the line.
Five hours of overnight trash talk, then? Apparently not. Based on both teams’ social media accounts, everyone was well-behaved on the long flight home. And given that the traveling parties appeared to be separated by the aisle, there presumably were no arguments over seat-back reclining or the like.
If nothing else, the teams will be better acquainted when they reconvene Friday in Charlottesville, Va., for their best-of-three series.
