The footage, which will air on the August 30 episode of MBFFL, opens with patriarch of the family, Glenn, discussing Babs’ recuperation from her major health scare.

Babs, who is the mother of the TLC series’ main star Whitney Way Thore, suffered a second stroke earlier this year after recovering from her first back in 2017, leaving the family—and viewers on the show—concerned for the beloved star.

When the show returned to screens for Season 10 in early August, it was confirmed that Babs was on the mend and was even set to be released from hospital and moved to an in-patient rehab facility.

In the upcoming episode of MBFFL, however, Babs’ husband Glenn reveals that things have stalled somewhat as the family has struggled to find Babs’ next accommodation.

He says in a confessional: “Whitney has taken the lead on finding [an] assisted living community. The person that she’s dealing with, Shannon, asked me to come over and go and really take a look at all it has to offer.”

In a different scene, speaking to his children, Hunter and Whitney, in a kitchen, Glenn says: “I told [Shannon] to go ahead and actually start saving the room, the apartment, but I wanted to talk to you guys first to make sure you’re in agreement.”

Whitney and Hunter say they are, and Whitney declares: “I say we call them right now,” but as Glenn get his phone out to make the call, he realizes he has a message from Shannon.

Whitney reads the texts and relays the heartbreaking message—the apartment has already been taken. Shannon does say they may have another one becoming available but they won’t be able to confirm until “maybe tomorrow, maybe in the next few days.”

A disappointed Glenn says: “This is what I was afraid of all along, that we’re down to the 11th hour and doing a scramble round. I don’t know what we’re going to do.”

In a confessional, Whitney then reveals just how stressful it’s been trying to secure somewhere for her mom to move to.

“It’s been really difficult finding a place for my mom, a lot of places don’t have vacancies and they don’t know when they’re going to have vacancies,” she says. “Most communities don’t let you reserve a room until a couple of days before the patient is discharged.”

Whitney continues: “So now we have this perfect place. but we have this little window and someone gets it before we do.”

Back with Hunter and Glenn, Whitney reveals that this particular assisted living community was the only one they could find that was suitable for Babs.

“Not only is there nothing as good, we don’t even have the option of [anywhere else],” she explains. “We don’t have another option.”

In a confessional, Whitney’s brother Hunter is equally dismayed, telling the cameras: “It feels like, if this doesn’t work out then there’s nothing else we can do for her. You know what I mean? We’re going to put her in a place that has less than glowing reviews?

“I mean, if you want me to get real about it, like fk, this s* really p***** me off. It p***** me off. That this is the only place that’s perfect for her. It feels like this is a life or death situation. That’s what it feels like.”

Will the Thores be able to get Babs into her assisted living community? Or will they need to continue the search?
