Now, Marleigh has finally aced pouring drinks, after repeatedly going viral for her previous attempts.
Of course, a baby pouring a drink for the first time isn’t out of the ordinary, but most babies don’t have an audience of millions anticipating it.
In November 2020, Rooney shared Marleigh’s first attempt at pouring a drink, and has since been regularly sharing her progress to his followers. The pair went viral on November 2 when he first told her to pour orange juice into a cup.
Marleigh obliged, but soon poured the whole bottle into the tiny cup, overflowing it all over the table, but happened to gain five million likes for it, too.
“For some reason, I didn’t think you’d pour the whole thing. That’s kind of on me,” said Rooney in the clip. In the videos since, he’s been attempting to teach her how to pour on her own, resulting in covered tables every time. At times, she’s entertained followers by completely missing the glass.
The adorable “pouring” series has even gained its own category on the TikTok account, as Rooney refused to give up. “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting different results,” quoted Rooney in a compilation video of her pouring in April.
Now however, Marleigh has gone viral once more, as she’s finally managed to pour a glass of a drink by herself. Last week, she impressed viewers who had watched along her journey by stopping twice while pouring—albeit nowhere near the top of the glass.
Yesterday, June 15, Rooney shared the clip that viewers have all been waiting for—Marleigh poured a glass of probiotic right to the very top, without spilling. “That one was impressive even for a grown person,” he wrote in the comments.
Rooney also shared a “before and after” style clip comparing her watching him pour the drink a year ago to her latest successful attempt herself. “From student to teacher,” he captioned the video.
It’s not just Marleigh’s journey of pouring skills that has captivated viewers though, as the uncle and niece duo previously went viral for her affixation with the slang word “yeet.” Rooney shared clips of his niece shouting the word back to him, and it was even one of her very first words.
“I’m so proud, I could literally cry,” wrote one viewer on the recent pouring video.
Newsweek contacted Chris Rooney for comment.
