Well, now, Star Wars fans can pre-order their own Baby Yoda from the Disney Shop.

Baby Yoda is from Disney+ show The Mandalorian and is a male “Force-sensitive” being belonging to the same species as the infamous Jedi Master Yoda, according to fan-run website Wookiepedia. Referred to as “The Child,” he was born around 41 Before the Battle of Yavin (BBY), when the first Death Star was destroyed in Star Wars: A New Hope. Considered an infant at the age of 50 years old, the Disney+ show focuses on him being retrieved by a Mandalorian bounty hunter.

The 11-inch plush, which is made by Mattel, has an authentic likeness to The Mandalorian character. It has a soft “plushie” body, with a sturdy base filled with beans, according to the Disney Shop website. The head is sculpted vinyl, with the toy packaged in a box resembling the crib seen in the show.

The species the Child and Yoda belong to are said to live for hundreds of years, with Jedi Master Yoda dying at the age of 900 in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. The Mandalorian is set five years after this. However, not a lot is known about the species as Yoda is one of the only main characters to feature. Other lesser-known characters include Yaddle, who sat on the Jedi High Council in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, and Vandar Tokare, who appeared in the Knights of the Old Republic video game.

The addition of Baby Yoda to the Star Wars franchise is leading many fans to speculate that the 50-year-old “infant” could be related to Yoda and Yaddle, or could be a clone. It could also lead to more information being divulged about Yoda’s species, with the Star Wars data bank saying that the name of the species is currently unknown.

According to Shop Disney, the Baby Yoda plush toy will be available to buyers from April 1, 2020. Fans can pre-order now for $24.99 and will be notified by email when the toy is ready to ship.

Pop culture collectibles manufacturer Funko has also officially revealed its Baby Yoda figure. The toy is available in standard and 10-inch versions, which they have revealed will be shipping in early spring.

Hasbro has said they will not be offering Baby Yoda merchandise until 2020, with Funko and the Disney store offering products such as T-shirts, sweaters, vests, tote bags, mugs and more.
