During his high-energy performance, Jeleel put on a slamming show for fans. It started off as a typical set for the Rhode Island-born rapper as he ripped the shirt off his body and did a backflip onstage, causing his fans to go wild. Before he sang his hit single “DIVE IN!” he climbed a stage pole to do the backflip and landed perfectly on his feet.
“My music is just real raw energy,” Jeleel told Newsweek as he described his sound, “It’s high energy. It’s untainted. It can’t be duplicated.”
He spent some time in the crowd, saying how much he loves his fans. He even crowd-surfed and let his fans yell into the microphone, most of them screaming profanities but being respectful toward the rapper.
The internet-borne music genre “hyper pop” is a mixture of EDM and pop, exploring unique beats and melodies. Jeleel adds his own taste to the genre by adding energetic high-pitched, one-of-a-kind verses.
He began his music career by releasing his first single, “Glo Up” in 2018 and his debut album “Angel From Heaven” the following year. His newest single “Stone Cold” is WWE-inspired and he will have a new song released in the coming weeks.
Jeleel is an avid mixed-martial arts (MMA) trainer and frequently practices gymnastics to work on his flexibility and takes cold showers before he meditates in the mornings. Before he performs, he prays, stretches and drinks tons of water to stay hydrated.
Jeleel said he first wanted to become an athlete. “That wasn’t in God’s plan. So I tried doing music and I fell in love with it. I felt like that was what my calling was.”
The rapper added, “Man, I don’t know. I just, I just I feel like my shows are like a big party.” He also encouraged his fans to not focus on him the entire set and to just live in the moment with their friends and have fun.
He shared some words of encouragement for his fans: “Stop overthinking and just dive in headfirst. Be positive. I know life is hard, but like, you’re gonna get through, you know, I’m here to promote positivity.”
