Terry W. Virts, the NASA astronaut commanding the International Space Station, is a Baltimore native. Today, he sent support to his hometown team from space, donning an Orioles jersey from the Jim Johnson days in front of an American flag. A statement rooted in both politics and sports fandom.
Virts had previously sent out a tweet on Tuesday, a portrait of Baltimore from space, oddly serene and peaceful given the goings on on the ground.
This isn’t the first time Virts has showcased his love of baseball from beyond. On April 15, the astronaut celebrated Jackie Robinson Day with a Dodgers jersey and a tweet that went viral.
