Christian Sayre, the 35-year-old owner of Anchor Pub, was arrested on January 14 and is being held on $1 million bail, KING-TV in Seattle reported.

Special Assault Unit detectives with the Everett Police Department originally arrested Sayre in October of 2021. According to a news release, the department interviewed male and female victims who said they had drinks at the bar, then had no memory of what happened after.

“However, upon waking up, the victims believed they had been sexually assaulted,” it said.

The release also cited a 2020 incident in which a woman went to the bar with friends and had a couple of drinks. Afterward, she could only remember being in an office with the owner and another male. Believing the men had sexually assaulted her, she went to a hospital, where tests confirmed sexual contact.

After Sayre was arrested in the fall, he was released on bail while waiting for charges to be filed. Last week, the Snohomish County Prosecutor’s Office charged him with two counts of second-degree rape and eight counts of indecent liberties, the Everett Herald reported.

According to Portland-based KPTV, during the investigation, authorities learned that Sayre had more than 20 alleged victims in Washington state. They have also determined that there are more in Oregon, with some incidents dating as far back as 2002. The news station said criminal charges in Oregon are pending.

KING-TV added that police have enough evidence for nine more sex crime counts, but charges could not be filed because they either need more information or the statute of limitations has expired.

“Based on the evidence in this case, detectives strongly believe there are additional victims,” the sheriff’s office told KING-TV.

The Herald reported that Deputy Prosecutor Taryn Jones asked Superior Court Judge Cassandra Lopez-Shaw to impose no-contact and protection orders for 10 of Sayre’s alleged victims, as well as for a no-contact order for civilian witnesses.

There are two exceptions, however. The first is the mother of Sayre’s child and the second is a former employee who is “involved in managing the Anchor Pub in some matter,” Jones told the court.

The judge granted the no-contact orders, according to the Herald. Sayre’s trial is scheduled for February 25.

The Everett Police Department and Anchor Pub did not immediately respond to Newsweek’s requests for comment.
