In the video, which was posted to the app by a woman called Erin Lynch, known online as Eurn__, we can see a dog sitting on a sofa next to a person covertly filming them.

The animal then barks several times while wagging his tail, only to then produce a final loud bark that makes him stop dead in his tracks as he hears it echoed back to him.

The perplexed pet’s eyes hilariously widen as he looks around the room, confused at what has just happened.

Text overlaying the humorous footage, which can be watched here, reads: “Barks at himself and then gets scared.”

Lynch has captioned the video, explaining: “Snapchat memory of puppy Murph #dog #puppy #scaredycat.”

Since the clip was posted on November 24 it has gained lots of traction online, having been watched a staggering 3.1 million times.

It has also attracted more than 723,300 likes and many people have flooded the comments section with their opinions on the dog’s amusing actions.

One TikTok user, Countrycrazy00, joked from the animal’s perspective: “Am I the drama I think I might be the drama?”

Another person, Georgia Rassic Park, added: “Did you guys hear that? I’m scared. I don’t know what that was guys…”

l5r21 typed: “It’s the look up eye roll for me,” alongside a laughing-face emoji.

Benjamin joked: “My man’s got his own demons y’all, let him live.”

Hardest In The Room observed: “He thought the gods were talking to him.”

Petegoff1121 commented: “Did he wreck and check himself at the same time? Yes, yes he did.”

Adelasface opined: “The neighbors probably love that.”

Another dog recently went viral in a video that shows him mimicking the sound of nearby fire engines.

Rigby the golden retriever lives with his owner Hannah West near a fire station and she captioned the video of her dog howling, explaining: “The moment I realized living down the street from the fire station might be a problem.”

The footage has been watched more than 1.1 million times and West told Newsweek: “Rigby has a lot of personality, I’m thrilled I got to share a little bit of him with the rest of internet.

“We are going to have to reach out to the local fire station and see if their biggest fan can come for a visit!”
