Pep on Brexit: We’ll leave if UK wants!

The Championship fixture at Oakwell had only been underway for five minutes when play was disturbed by a supporter throwing a toy Peppa Pig from the crowd.

The pig was thrown in the direction of Wednesday striker Sam Winnall, who left Barnsley in January after three years for Carlos Carvalhal’s side.

Winnall then invited more fury from the home fans after opening the scoring after 50 minutes, tapping into an empty net after a defensive mistake.

The 26-year-old is not the first footballer to have endured pig-related violence from fans, although this incident is perhaps tame in comparison to what Luis Figo endured.

The Portugal star famously had a severed pig’s head thrown at him after swapping Barcelona for Real Madrid when taking a corner at Camp Nou on his return to the Catalan side.
