BRILES: Admits mistakes | Daughter comes to his defense

On Monday, we may be seeing why that terminology was used.

The university’s Board of Regents reportedly is considering a one-year suspension for Briles. KWTX-TV in Waco reported that a vote would be taken Monday night.

Hard to believe, right? That’s according to Horns Digest, which cited multiple sources. And then Chuck Carlton of the Dallas Morning News got Texas Rangers part-owner Bob Simpson (also a big Baylor donor according to Carlton) to go on record.

That comment and news that Baylor might be considering this move was met with harsh response:

USA Today’s Dan Wolken reported Monday that the potential decision bringing back Briles was unlikely to happen.

Members on the board supporting a move “were few in number at this point and considered to be on the margins,” according to the report.

Since May 26, Baylor AD Ian McCaw has resigned and former president Ken Starr was shifted to chancellor but soon resigned that post.

Since Briles was suspended, the university hired Jim Grobe to run the football program on an interim basis.
