On Thursday, People reported that the couple—who were first romantically linked in November 2015—had called time on their relationship.
The article was published shortly after TMZ reported allegations that former One Direction star Malik had “struck” the Hadid sisters’ mother, Yolanda Hadid, during a disagreement last week—accusations Malik “adamantly” denies.
As reports circulated about the allegations and couple’s romantic status, Bella, 25, shared the cryptic post on her Instagram Story on Thursday.
The model posted an illustration of a nude woman meditating on the beach while facing the sun, alongside the words: “I can do nothing for you but work on myself. You can do nothing for me but work on yourself.”
Earlier on Thursday, a representative of her elder sister, Gigi Hadid, 26, released a statement about the allegations surrounding Malik, with whom the supermodel shares 13-month-old daughter, Khai.
“Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai,” the spokesperson told People. She asks for privacy during this time."
“Pillowtalk” singer Malik also prioritized the former couple’s daughter in a statement shared on Twitter shortly after the allegations were published on TMZ’s website.
“As you all know I am a private person and I very much want to create a safe and private space for my daughter to grow up in,” he said in the statement. “A place where private family matters aren’t thrown on the world stage for all to poke apart.
“In an effort to protect that space for her I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner’s who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago.”
He went on to discuss his futile efforts to maintain a “peaceful family environment” for the sake of his daughter, and he criticized the “divisiveness” that had, instead, entered their lives.
“This was and still should be a private matter but it seems for now there is ‘divisiveness’ and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a matter in which she deserves, this has been ’leaked’ to the press,” the musician continued.
He concluded: “I am hopeful though for healing for all involved with the harsh word shared and more importantly I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves.”
In a statement released to TMZ, Malik also directly denied allegations he had assaulted Yolanda Hadid.
“I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid and for the sake of my daughter I decline to give any further details and I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private,” read the statement.
