Burnell made his pro debut in 2013. He joined the UFC in 2017 and went 1-2 with the promotion. The 27-year-old won the Cage Warriors featherweight title and then joined Bellator in 2020. Burnell is 3-0 with the promotion, his last fight being a win over Emmanuel Sanchez in July. 

With nine wins via submission, Burnell is ranked second in Bellator’s featherweight rankings.  

Borics made his pro debut in 2014. Joining Bellator in 2017, he went 5-0 with the promotion before losing to Darrion Caldwell in 2020 in the quarterfinals of the Bellator Featherweight Grand Prix. He has since won three in a row, his last bout against Jeremy Kennedy in April 2021.

Borics is currently tied with Burnell in second in the featherweight rankings. With A.J. McKee and Patricio “Pitbull” Freire set for a rematch for the Bellator featherweight title, Borics and Burnell are ready to prove their value to Bellator President Scott Coker.
