Haye and Bellew fought last March, with the latter winning by 11th-round TKO. The fight was close until the sixth round when Haye ruptured his achilles tendon. He somehow was able to continue on one leg.

Bellew (29-2-1, 19 KOs) knocked Haye down in the 11th round, and the grudge match appeared to be over. Somehow, Haye made it back to his feet, but moments later, his corner threw in the towel.

Haye (28-3, 26 KOs) immediately underwent surgery to repair the injury. Negotiations for the rematch were difficult and looked bleak that it would take place. As talks stalled, Haye and Bellew had a phone conversation, and the rematch got made shortly thereafter for Dec. 17.

In November, Haye confirmed he had injured his arm and had to pull out. Bellew thought about taking an interim fight, but opted to wait for Haye to recover.

If Haye is fully recovered from his injuries, this should be a fantastic fight. All the pressure is on Haye, who boasted before the first outing that he would beat Bellew easily and needs to back up his talk this time around.

Bellew proved how good he really was even though Haye has told everyone who would listen that he underestimated his English counterpart and the injury completely changed the fight.

Maybe the injury did change the outcome. Maybe it didn’t. We will find out on Saturday whether the injury really played much of factor or Bellew is really that good.
