Fastest time: 2:24.00 (Secretariat, 1973)

Biggest long shot: 70-1 (Sarava, 2002). He paid out $142.50 on a $2 bet and spoiled a Triple Crown bid for War Emblem, a horse also saddled by American Pharoah trainer Bob Baffert. 

Biggest favorite: 1-20 (Count Fleet, 1940). He went on to win by 25 lengths, second most of all-time.

Largest margin of victory: 31 lengths (Secretariat, 1973)

Smallest margin of victory: By a nose (Granville, 1936. Jaipur, 1962. Victory Gallop, 1998)

Betting favorites: In 146 runnings, 61 favorites have won (41.7 percent).

Highest attendance: 120,139 (2004). Smarty Jones lost by a length, failing to win the Triple Crown.

Most wins by a trainer: 8 (James G. Rowe, Sr.). Rowe also won the Belmont twice as a jockey, in 1872 and 1873.
