In a flurry of tweets, ex-Ben & Jerry’s customers shared videos of themselves throwing away their products and switching to rivals Häagen-Dazs.

One account showed a woman holding a tub of Cherry Garcia before throwing it into the trash along with another tub that was sitting on her kitchen counter.

Middle East security analyst Seth Frantzman shared a tweet of several Häagen-Dazs tubs in a freezer and added in a comment replying to Ben & Jerry’s statement: “Israeli Twitter be like.”

Another user said in a comment shared alongside a picture of two tubs of Häagen-Dazs: “Haagen Dazs it is then.”

A fourth shared a photo of a Ben & Jerry’s tub at the bottom of their trash and referred to the company’s statement shared on a green background with white text, colors used in the flag of the designated Palestinian terrorist organization, Hamas.

It read: “Simple decision for me. Cute you even used the colors of Hamas.”

The online outrage was sparked yesterday after Ben & Jerry’s said in a statement that it would no longer be selling its products in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Ben & Jerry’s said: “We believe it is inconsistent with our values for Ben & Jerry’s ice cream to be sold in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT).

“We also hear and recognize the concerns shared with us by our fans and trusted partners. We have a longstanding partnership with our licensee, who manufactures Ben & Jerry’s ice cream in Israel and distributes it in the region.”

It continued: “We have been working to change this, and so we have informed our licensee that we will not renew the license agreement when it expires at the end of next year.

“Although Ben & Jerry’s will no longer be sold in the OPT, we will stay in Israel through a different arrangement. We will share an update on this as soon as we’re ready.”

In a tweet thread posted earlier today, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said he would take “strong action” if Ben & Jerry’s follows through with its moves to pull sales from the occupied territories.

The statement read: “Prime Minister Bennett spoke with Alan Jope, CEO of Unilever which owns Ben & Jerry’s and made it clear that he views with utmost gravity the decision by Ben & Jerry’s to boycott Israel and added that this is a subsidiary of Unilever, which has taken a clearly anti-Israel step.

“Prime Minister Bennett emphasized that from the perspective of the State of Israel, this is an action that has severe consequences, including legal, and it will take strong action against any boycott directed against its citizens.”

Israel has occupied the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, as well as the Gaza Strip since 1967 following its successful defense of the nation during the Six-Day War.

Over the years, Israeli settlers have continued to live and build homes in the occupied territories, which international observers say are illegal.

The United Nations refers to the area as the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
