“I don’t think he was trying to take me out,” Roethlisberger told reporters Tuesday. “According to the rules, it was a low hit, so maybe it should have been flagged. But I don’t think he did anything to intentionally hurt me.”

Roethlisberger was diagnosed with a sprained MCL and a bone bruise in his left leg. Though he’ll miss a chunk of the season, he feared it could have been a season-ending ACL injury or even worse.
“As I was going off the field I told the doc I feel like my leg is broke,” Roethlisberger said. “It felt really bad. What they concluded was that was the two bones smacking together that caused the bone bruise. That’s what I felt initially."
Michael Vick will take over the Steelers’ offense during Roethlisberger’s absence, beginning Thursday night against the Ravens.
