During a press conference, Roethlisberger was asked if he is looking at the team’s upcoming game against the Cleveland Browns as possibly his final game in the league.

“Looking at the bigger picture, I would say all signs are pointing to this could be it —regular season, that is,” Roethlisberger responded. “I know we still have a chance to potentially get a playoff game there if things fall our way and we take care of business and things have to happen. In the grand scheme of things, in terms of regular seasons, signs are pointing that way that this could be it.”

The Steelers quarterback mentioned that while nothing is guaranteed or definite, his focus is on winning the team’s upcoming game.

“If it is indeed my last regular-season game here, it’s going to be one of the most important games of my career. I’ve been so blessed to play in front of the best fans in all of sports, the best venue. What better way to have a last regular season potential game than Monday night football against a division opponent. It’s just special,” he said.

At the press conference, Roethlisberger also spoke about how he has spent the last 18 seasons with the Steelers, after being drafted by the team in 2004.

“Almost half my life I’ve given to this city, this team and the fans,” he said. “The funny thing I know is that I still have it in the tank to go out there this week and next week and give it everything I have to do everything I can to get us in into the postseason. That’s always the ultimate goal, to win a Lombardi [Trophy], and that’s still the goal. We’re not out of this thing yet.”

After being drafted by the Steelers in the first round in the 2004 draft, Roethlisberger won the league’s Rookie of the Year award and eventually went on to win two Super Bowl rings. Roethlisberger has garnered several other accolades during his time in the NFL, including six Pro Bowl selections and leading the league in passing yards in two separate years.

Roethlisberger also has a few different NFL records, such as the most career 500-yard passing games (four) and the most touchdown passes in a two-game span (12).

Over the past season, Roethlisberger has thrown for over 3,000 yards and 20 touchdowns. He has led the Steelers to a 7-7-1 record so far and the team currently stands in third place of the NFL’s AFC North division.
