It didn't go down like that, though.

Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton was three interceptions deep into the game against the Ravens when he pulled out the only thing he had left: luck.

Dalton’s Hail Mary in the final seconds of regulation fell like a gift into the hands of A.J. Green. Ravens safety James Ihedigbo rose through the scrum of players in the end zone and got his fingers on Dalton’s pass. The tipped ball landed in Green’s hands for the 51-yard score. The extra point forced the game into overtime.

It didn’t right all of Dalton’s miscues—after all, he put them in the predicament with all of the turnovers—but it made them more palatable. It seemed to be a continuation of the bad play following an especially hot start. Dalton found himself in the throes of some pretty ugly play the last two games.

In an overtime loss to the Dolphins, he was picked off three times.

Against the Ravens Sunday, the unlikely completion to Green bailed the Bengals out in regulation, but they failed to take advantage of it.  A fourth-down swing pass to Giovani Bernard went horribly wrong when Bernard, trying to make something out of nothing, reversed field and loss 11 yards. That gave the Ravens excellent field position, as they started their OT drive at their own 44-yard line.

Kicker Justin Tucker iced the outcome with a 46-yard field goal.
