FANTASY: Ranking the tight ends | WR | QB | RB

According to multiple reports, Eifert will undergo a “minimal procedure” on his left ankle but needs a three-month recovery, putting his start to the season in jeopardy.

Eifert, who hauled in 52 catches for 615 yards last season, hurt his ankle during the Pro Bowl. The initial diagnoses were positive but a slowed healing process forced team officials to resort to surgery.

The 25-year-old tight end is under contract for $7.4 million the next two seasons after having his fifth-year option picked up, but the team is expected to extend a new contract even though he’s missed 19 games over the last three years.

With receivers Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu out of Cincinnati and Eifert recovering, wideout A.J. Green could be looking at a monster start to the season.
