This week, it’s the Battle of Ohio as the defending AFC champion Bengals head to Cleveland to face the Browns at FirstEnergy Stadium. The teams enter the week trending in opposite directions, with the 4-3 Bengals on a two-game winning streak and the 2-5 Browns on a four-game losing skid.
While the Browns’ current outlook may be bleak, they have been extremely successful against the Bengals in recent years. Cleveland has won four straight against its rival, though when the two teams met in Week 18 last season, Cincinnati rested key players in preparation for the playoffs. Still, the Bengals have not won in Cleveland since Week 4 of the 2017 NFL season.
LIVE: Follow Bengals vs. Browns on ‘Monday Night Football’
After some offseason chatter, it’s safe to assume that Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase has had this game circled on his calendar, but Chase won’t be able to stick it to the Browns. He will miss the contest because of a hip injury.
The matchup had already lost some luster with Browns cornerback Denzel Ward likely to miss his second straight game while in the NFL’s concussion protocol.
