Though there are less debuts at the event this year, a number of new models stand out, including some vehicles that are among the most popular in America. Other models on display come from global retailers poised to make the jump to dealership sales in the United States.
The show is open to the public April 15-24, 2022. All the models listed below can be found on the show floor.
2023 Kia Telluride
For the 2023 model year, Kia has made the three-row SUV into a more rugged model. The mid-generation revisions include fresh a fresh front bumper and grille, revised back end, new wheel designs for every trim level and three new exterior paint jobs.
A single-housing, curved dual 12.3-inch display screen setup is available and pairs with a redesigned dashboard and climate vents. A new steering wheel and interior color packages complete the new Kia Telluride’s look.
Kia is adding new X-Line and X-Pro variants to its Telluride offerings as well.
2022 Ford GT Holman Moody Heritage Edition
The Ford sports car sits at the New York Auto Show on a raised platform alongside its namesake, a GT40 MK II race car that completed the famous 1-2-3 sweep at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966.
The new GT features a gold and red livery with Oxford White rounders and the No. 5 featured on the doors, hood and rear wing. Exposed gloss carbon fiber components including 20-inch wheels, a front splitter, side sills, mirrors, engine louvers and a rear diffuser make the model stand out.
2023 Subaru Outback
The beloved wagon of millions of Americans has been freshened for the 2023 model year. It’s updated look includes redesigned front fascia and exterior cladding that more closely aligns the look of the five-door with Subaru’s new Solterra all-electric SUV.
Subaru has changed up its trim levels, giving Outback Onyx buyers two engine options. Technology changes are also afoot with the latest version of EyeSight safety and driver assist technology on-board, and an updated infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
2023 Toyota GR Corolla Circuit Edition
The newest addition to Toyota’s lineup delivers 300 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque to drivers, making it a true hot hatch. The all-wheel drive car comes in two versions: Core and Circuit Edition.
The GR Corolla Circuit Edition is a limited edition offering that will be available to customers in 2023. It has a forged carbon fiber roof, vented bulge hood, Brin Naub suede-trimmed sport seats with red accents and a Morizo signed shift knob.
VinFast VF 8
Vietnamese automaker VinFast is displaying their all-electric midsize VF 8 SUV at the New York auto show this year. The model, still in development, is expected to deliver up to 402 horsepower when it reached the market in the coming months.
The dual-motor all-wheel drive VF 8 is a premium model, designed to keep against upscale Jeep, Infiniti, Acura, Genesis and Lexus models.
2024 Volkswagen ID.Buzz
Volkswagen’s new take on the vintage T1 Microbus is an all-electric, shapely people hauler. Though it won’t arrive at U.S. dealer lots for a number of years, visitors to the New York International Auto Show can see the real deal in person.
A long wheelbase version of the ID.Buzz will be available for U.S. customers to order in 2023. It will come complete with a spacious cabin, LED lighting all around and large display screens. There’s also a healthy dose of nostalgic charm.
2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L
The large Jeep Grand Wagoneer has gotten even bigger. The extended wheelbase Grand Wagoneer L gets 12 inches more in overall length and 7 inches of wheelbase than the models’ traditional length. It has better passenger and cargo volume behind the third row than its Ford, Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac competition.
Jeep’s design and engineering team have managed to keep the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer’s upscale appearance intact with the addition of the new model, while also giving it transmission, suspension, and drivetrain options that can be found on smaller sized models.
2023 Toyota Sequoia Capstone
This version of the newly redesigned 2023 Toyota Sequoia shows off the new levels of luxury the company first showcased in the Tundra full-size truck. Blending features of Toyota’s family-friendly Highlander three-row SUV and Sienna minivan, the Sequoia Capstone is also a confident trail rider.
Sequoia Capstone comes complete with unique chrome exterior accents, 22-inch chrome wheels, power running boards, semi-aniline leather-trimmed seats, a black-and-white interior color scheme, walnut interior accents and acoustic glass in its front doors to help keep exterior noises from permeating the cabin.
VinFast VF 9
The VinFast full-size VF9 SUV is an all-electric model with a $55,000-ish price point to rival its gasoline- and battery-powered counterparts. The sleek and stylish model is designed for premium vehicle buyers who obsess over details, according to their marketing campaign.
When it comes to market the VF9 is expected to have a short charging time and offer drivers access to up to 402 horsepower.
2023 Hyundai Palisade
Like its production brother the Telluride, the three-row Hyundai Palisade also got a refresh for the 2023 model year. It’s new front and rear bumper fascia are paired with a new grille, headlamps, daytime running lights, multi-spoke alloy wheel design and auto-dimming outside mirrors.
The inside has been revamped too. There’s a new instrument panel, gauge cluster, audio interface design and steering wheel. New seating surfaces and materials, an enhanced driver’s seat, heated third-row seats, rearview camera mirror, Wi-Fi hot spot, quicker charging USB ports and wireless smartphone charging pad, 12-inch infotainment touch screen and new Bluelink features round out the list.
2023 Alfa Romeo Tonale
The Alfa Romeo Tonale isn’t set to arrive on U.S. dealership lots for a few months, the but the model is already making waves. Its fuel-efficient powertrain options and stylish looks help it to stand out from other premium and luxury SUVs.
Uniquely, the Tonale will be sold with an NFT that serves like a vehicle identification number (VIN) storing information about the model as it comes off the line. This information can be updated to include service records and other information.
