Most locations where the fireworks are being held have several COVID-19 safety measures in place. Contact the venues and local authorities for more information on health guidelines and safety requirements before attending any firework shows listed below.
Los Angeles
Firework displays are being held in several pockets of the Los Angeles County area, including at the Universal Studios Hollywood theme park venue. Tickets to the event include access to park rides and multiple party areas.
Long Beach will also hold a firework display at its downtown waterfront at midnight.
Those in the Marina del Rey area can head to Fisherman’s Village or anywhere near the South Jetty area to view the annual display at 8:59 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. local time.
Orlando
Firework shows are also being held at some theme park resorts in Orlando including SeaWorld Orlando, where guests can view the display from different areas of the park.
The LEGOLAND Florida Resort will be hosting a Kids’ New Year’s Eve fireworks showcase. The colorful LEGO-themed display will light up the night sky over Lake Eloise at 8 p.m. local time, according to the Visit Orlando tourism website.
Chicago
New Year’s Eve fireworks will be displayed along the Chicago River and Lakefront area. The fireworks will be launched from five bridges and two river launch points, the city of Chicago’s website advises.
The 1.5-mile-long display starts at 12 a.m. local time and can be viewed along the Chicago River from Wolf Point near the Franklin/Orleans Street bridge to the east of Columbus Drive to Navy Pier, the website says.
Hawaii
Waikiki, a neighborhood in Honolulu (the Hawaiian capital on the island of Oahu), will showcase a firework display of “electrifying colors and bright lights” at midnight on December 31. Hawaii Public Radio will air a live radio special as part of the New Year’s Eve fireworks show, according to the Hawaii Tourism Authority website.
Austin
The Texan city will display a “festive fireworks show” at the Vic Mathias Shores park venue at 10 p.m. local time. But visitors are encouraged to watch the fireworks “from a safe distance,” Austin city manager Spencer Cronk said in a statement on December 10.
The Austin city government stated: “City-organized activities, vendors, and entertainment will not be present in the park. Austinites and visitors are encouraged to celebrate responsibly and watch from afar.”
Nashville
The “Nashville’s Big Bash” New Year’s Eve live celebration in Tennessee will also feature a fireworks show at midnight local time, according to the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp.
Las Vegas
New Year’s Eve fireworks will go off from the rooftops of several resorts along the Las Vegas Strip, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, while another fireworks show will be displayed in the city’s downtown area, CNN reports.
