Though some expected special appearances by perhaps Miami legends Gloria Estafan of the Miami Sound Machine, and another from 305’s Pit Bull, it was all Shakira and J-Lo—and their South Florida bottom shaking—that made the Super Bowl LIV halftime show overtake all other Super Bowl trends on Twitter.
And no special appearances were needed.
The halftime show Sunday night had all the flair of a South Beach party, and it was as South Florida as South Florida can get.
Shakira first took the stage and belted out tunes while dancers took the stage. She then transitioned to Lopez, who sang her own tunes. The two superstars then joined forces onstage for a singing and dancing display that had social media clamoring for more.
Some called it the best halftime show they had ever seen. That’s saying a lot, considering Miami hosted a Super Bowl—13 years ago—when Prince was the performer at halftime, even playing Purple Rain while rain fell inside the stadium.
Here are comments and videos of Shakira and J-Lo at Sunday night’s halftime in Miami.
