Daily Kos/Civiqs, which surveyed 1,368 Arizona voters from June 13 to 15, found that 49 percent supported Biden, while 45 percent favored Trump. The poll also reported an increase in Biden’s support compared with a previous survey conducted by Fox News. The Fox poll, released June 3, found that 46 percent said they’d vote for Biden, while 42 percent said Trump was their preferred candidate.
During the 2016 election, Trump won Arizona by approximately 3.6 percentage points, according to Ballotpedia.
Additionally, the Daily Kos/Civiqs poll found that a majority of Arizona voters view the two candidates unfavorably. Fifty-five percent said they have an unfavorable opinion of both Biden and Trump. Forty-three percent said they have a favorable view of Trump, while 38 percent said they view the former vice president favorably. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.9 percentage points.
The poll also surveyed Arizona voters’ views on the state Senate race between Democrat Mark Kelly and Republican Martha McSally. According to the results, 51 percent of voters sided with Kelly and 42 percent with McSally. These findings are also a slight change from the previous Fox News poll, which found Kelly receiving 50 percent compared with McSally’s 37 percent.
The poll’s findings for the upcoming election were similar to two other polls conducted in New Mexico and Iowa. According to a Public Policy Polling survey, 53 percent of 740 New Mexico voters named Biden as their preferred candidate, while 39 percent supported Trump.
In Iowa, the results were closer, with Biden leading Trump by just 1 point, 44 percent to 43 percent. This poll was conducted by Selzer & Co. of Des Moines and surveyed 674 voters in the state between June 7 and 10. This poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.8 percentage points.
In addition to Biden’s lead over Trump in Arizona, New Mexico and Iowa, the former vice president also has an advantage over the president in general polls. According to a Real Clear Politics average of several national polls conducted between May 28 and June 9, Biden holds an average lead of over 8.1 points.
Newsweek reached out to the campaign offices for Biden and Trump for comments on the polling but did not hear back before publication.
