The poll, which was conducted by The Hill/HarrisX, surveyed 933 registered voters from July 3 to July 4. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.2 percentage points.
According to the poll, 43 percent of respondents said they would vote for Biden if the presidential election were held today, while 39 percent sided with Trump. Among the remaining percent of voters, 5 percent said they would vote for someone else, 5 percent said they wouldn’t vote, and 8 percent said they were not sure.
The poll found that Trump has narrowed Biden’s lead from previous polls. According to a poll conducted from June 1 to June 4, Biden held a 10-point lead over Trump, when47 percent of respondents sided with the former vice president and 37 percent chose Trump.
While Biden’s lead over Trump has diminished nationally, the former vice president still holds a demanding advantage over Trump among younger voters.
According to the poll, among registered voters between the ages of 18 and 34, 52 percent said they will vote for Biden. In comparison, 24 percent of the same group chose Trump as their preferred candidate.
On the other hand, when the poll looked at older age groups, Trump took a lead over Biden, among voters between the ages of 35 and 49. According to the poll, 45 percent of voters in this age group said they would vote for Trump while 34 percent chose Biden.
Voters between the ages of 50 and 64 are split with both candidates receiving 42 percent of support.
The poll also found that Biden holds a lead among Black and Hispanic voters, while Trump has the advantage among white voters. According to the poll, Trump leads Biden among white voters by 13 points (48-35). In comparison, Biden currently holds a demanding 62 point lead among Black voters (73-11) and a 31 point lead among Hispanic voters (54-23).
Several other national polls show Biden leading Trump, but with a much larger advantage.
In a recent poll conducted by The Economist/YouGov, 49 percent of respondents chose Biden as their preferred candidate, while 40 percent chose Trump. This poll surveyed 1,500 U.S. adults from July 5 to July 7 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.2 percentage points.
Another poll published by Monmouth University shows Biden with a 12 point advantage, as he received 53 percent of support, compared to 41 percent that sided with Trump. This poll surveyed 867 U.S. adults from June 26 to June 30. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.6 percentage points.
