The president’s official Twitter account shared a video showing U.S. team captain Tyler Adams kicking a soccer ball on a stadium pitch before Biden appears to catch it on the White House lawn.

The U.S. is hoping to qualify for the quarterfinals of the the FIFA World Cup in a game against the Netherlands on Saturday at the Khalifa International Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar, with betting favoring the Dutch team.

“Hey Mr. President, heads up!” Adams said in the video before kicking the soccer ball.

After a jump cut, President Biden can be seen holding a ball while standing outside the White House. The president was wearing a Team USA scarf and a striped tie in the team’s colors.

“It’s called soccer,” Biden said, while gesturing toward the camera with the ball.

“Go USA. You guys are gonna do it,” the president added.

The video had been viewed more than 220,000 as of early Saturday morning. The crucial game is scheduled to take place at 10 a.m. EST.

Writing for Newsweek on Friday, Sascha Paruk of Sports Betting Dime noted that the Netherlands are unbeaten in their last 18 matches.

“Based purely on the odds, the implied probability of advancing is 65.97 percent for the Netherlands and 34.03 percent for the Americans,” Paruk said, adding: “The implied probability in regulation time is 48.69 percent for a Netherlands victory, 29.70 percent for a draw, and just 21.61 percent for a U.S. win.”

If the USMNT succeeds in qualifying for the quarterfinals, it will be the first time the U.S. has done so at a World Cup since 2002 and President Biden has been expressing his strong support for the team.

A video of Biden celebrating the U.S.’ 1-0 victory over Iran on November 29 went viral as the president appeared to show genuine delight at the win. That victory allowed the USMNT to finish second in their group.

In that video, shared by the White House’s Twitter account, Biden was informed that the team had won before walking up to the podium at a Democratic event.

“Hello, hello, hello. The United States beat Iran, 1-0. U.S. 1 – Iran 0, game’s over,” Biden said, adding: ““Hey, hey, hey!”

The president’s remarks were met with cheering from the crowd and chants of “USA, USA!”

Saturday’s game is make or break, however, as the World Cup has entered its knockout stages. Only one team can advance and the White House will rooting for another USMNT win.
