Howard’s is a riches-to-rags-to-riches story. He won the Heisman Trophy at the University of Michigan but flopped with the Washington Redskins, then was dumped by expansion Jacksonville. “I never doubted I would make it,” says the personable Packer, adding that he won’t point fingers in his vindication. But, he notes with a smile, “those folks who said I didn’t have the talent to make it in the NFL–they got some explaining to do.”
