This is the narrative espoused by leftist college students, progressive activist groups and mainstream media outlets. But if they would listen to the words of its co-founder, Omar Barghouti, they would know that BDS is about ending Israel’s very existence....
Global non-profit Four Paws rescued the bear on December 11 from a backyard in Son La province, in the northwest of the country, and brought her to a bear sanctuary in Ninh Bình, on Vietnam’s eastern edge, according to a statement. The non-profit said the 21-year-old bear, named Tu Do, was the last bear that had been used for bile extraction in Son La. She was also the 50th bear rescued by the organization in the country over the course of 20 rescue missions....
But the Bears would not have needed overtime if not for a crucial mistake just before halftime. With six seconds left in the second quarter, Steelers kicker Chris Boswell’s 35-yard field goal attempt was blocked by Sherrick McManus, and the ball fell into the hands of Bears corner Marcus Cooper, who ran it back 73 yards. Instead of running for a touchdown, however, Cooper slowed down before the goal line, and Steelers tight end Vance McDonald forced a fumble at the 1-yard line....
The news isn’t all that surprising after the Bears made it clear this week that Marhsall was available, but it’s still going to create serious ripple effects in both Chicago and New York. For the Bears, Alshon Jeffery becomes the team’s undisputed No. 1 receiver and should be drafted as such in 2015. ESPN reports the Bears star wide receiver will miss Sunday’s game against the Raiders. If you subscribe to the belief that Jurgen Klinsmann is likely to bring two defensive midfielders to Brazil, and Jermaine Jones is going to be one of them, then in theory, that leaves one spot up for grabs for Beckerman and Edu (and Reading's Danny Williams for that matter)....

At 4:44 p.m. local time, the Houston Police Department reported that a 33-year-old man had been arrested for throwing a beer can at the Texas Senator while he was passing by in a military vehicle as part of the parade. “The beer can struck the Senator in the chest/neck area,” a tweet from the department explained....

Earlier this month, the country’s president, Alexander Lukashenko, announced there would be a joint regional grouping of 70,000 Belarusian troops and up to 15,000 Russians in response to what he described as increased tensions on its western borders. Belarus has stayed away from direct involvement in the war in Ukraine so far, although its location north of Ukraine was used as a springboard for Russia’s invasion in February. Russia has also amassed some troops and tanks in Belarus, while Lukashenko has relied on Russian President Vladimir Putin to stay in power, after claiming victory in the 2020 election that was condemned as fraudulent....
Belarus’ Foreign Ministry said it is suspending a readmission agreement with the EU aimed at stopping the flow of illegal migration. It also said EU officials involved with drafting sanctions against Belarus will be banned from the country, without naming those to be banned. The EU issued economic sanctions on Belarus on Thursday over its forced diversion of a Ryanair flight to apprehend a journalist in May. “We note with deep regret that the forced suspension of the agreement will have a negative impact on cooperation with the EU in the field of combating illegal migration and organized crime,” Belarus’ Foreign Ministry said....
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Army said in a statement on Facebook that some units of Belarus’ special operations forces had held combat readiness checks. Several Belarusian units in Volhynia and Polesia were also tasked with strengthening protection of a section of the Belarusian-Ukrainian border in the Brest and Gomel regions, the statement said. Belarusian state-controlled news agency Belta separately reported Thursday that Belarus is set to send more than 250 personnel to Russia for military exercises from August 30 to September 5....
