The Republican leader in the House of Representatives and the leader of Israel have both voiced their opposition to a return of the Obama-era deal. Israel Prime Minister Naftali Bennett on Sunday said he was concerned about the nuclear deal’s pending return, which would include removing Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) from the U.S. and Israeli list of terrorist groups. “We are very concerned about the United States’ intention to give in to Iran’s outrageous demand and remove the IRGC from the list of terrorist organizations,” Bennett told members of his cabinet, according to The Times of Israel....

Stating that he was worried about the possibility of having “two million people” attempting to cross the border, Biden opined that encouraging such a surge would be “the last thing we need.” The only option was, he said, to wait for “probably the next six months” before changing any rules that would make it easier for the United States to process asylum seekers. Biden was reacting to reports published earlier in December that outlined what had been happening on the southern border, especially in the aftermath of his election victory....

Under President Donald Trump’s leadership, the United States exited the failed Iran Nuclear Deal, reinstated a host of targeted sanctions and took out Qassem Soleimani, a terrorist responsible for the death and maiming of hundreds of Americans in Afghanistan, Iraq and around the world. The crushing sanctions imposed by President Trump caused financial tensions in Iran, and forced the regime to look inwards to reduce its outward exposure. Iran’s terrorist proxies in Yemen, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq began to falter....

The poll, which was conducted by The Hill/HarrisX, surveyed 933 registered voters from July 3 to July 4. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.2 percentage points. According to the poll, 43 percent of respondents said they would vote for Biden if the presidential election were held today, while 39 percent sided with Trump. Among the remaining percent of voters, 5 percent said they would vote for someone else, 5 percent said they wouldn’t vote, and 8 percent said they were not sure....

On Friday morning, a Pennsylvania state court struck down the state’s 2019 law that expanded mail-in voting. The ruling comes after former President Donald Trump and his allies have questioned the legitimacy of the election, filing numerous court cases. At one point, Trump claimed to have “massive proof” of voter fraud in the state. According to the Pennsylvania Election Returns’ website, Biden received 1,995,691 mail-in votes to Trump’s 595,538. Biden won the state and its 20 electoral votes with 50....

“In one 24-hour period this weekend, 23 U.S. military flights, including 14 C-17s, nine C-130 flights, left comfortably carrying 3,900 passengers,” he said in a live briefing to the public from the White House. “We see no reason why this template will not be kept up. During the same period, our military facilitated another 35 charter flights carrying an additional 4,000 evacuees to other countries that are taking them out....

The world’s better for her,” Biden said, according to Reuters. The president’s comments in the U.K. come one day before the queen’s funeral, which he and many other world leaders are expected to attend. Meanwhile, King Charles II welcomed leaders in a reception ahead of the funeral, Reuters reported....

After Justice Stephen Breyer announced his retirement last week, Biden doubled down on a previous pledge to nominate a Black woman to the Supreme Court, which would be a historic first. While many have lauded the promise as progress, some Republicans have criticized Biden for considering race and gender in his pick. Wicker, a Mississippi Republican, told SuperTalk Mississippi radio host Paul Gallo he believes the Supreme Court seat will go from someone who is a “nice stately liberal” to someone “more in the style of Sonia Sotomayor....

Thomas-Greenfield isn’t wrong to say slavery and racism constitute the “original sin” of American history. Toleration of slavery was not just morally wrong but also a blot on the young republic’s international reputation and undermined its claim to have transcended the problems of Europe that most of its citizens had fled. It’s also true that in the America in which the ambassador grew up, racism was still commonplace. But saying so, whether to Sharpton’s group or on the floor of a world body—many of whose members are brutal dictatorships that respect no one’s human rights but those of their rulers—does not enhance America’s ability to effectively advocate for freedom throughout the world....

Donald Ayer, who served under President George H. W. Bush and has worked alongside Barr, told MSNBC’s The Beat With Ari Melber on Thursday that the attorney general’s loyalty to the president is damaging confidence in the DOJ. Barr’s critics accuse him of acquiescing to the president over the sentencing of former Trump aide and longtime GOP operative Roger Stone. Federal prosecutors recommended a seven to a nine-year jail sentence for Stone....

Appearing on Fox News Tuesday, Barr sharply criticized U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon for granting a request from Trump’s lawyers for a special master to review sensitive materials taken from the former president’s Mar-a-Lago home. Joining other legal experts who’ve blasted the ruling, Barr’s remarks are the latest in his ongoing rift with Trump since leaving office. Cannon, a Trump appointee, on Monday authorized a special master, likely a retired judge or legal expert, to look for personal items and documents covered by attorney-client or executive privilege taken by federal law enforcement in the August 8 court-authorized search of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in southern Florida....

Speaking at The New York Times’ DealBook conference on Wednesday, Gates repeated his position that he favored higher taxes on the ultra-rich, but said he would have to pause and “do a little math” over Warren’s proposal given how much extra he would have to pay.
